PSAI Awards History
The Portable Sanitation Association International sponsors three awards: the M.Z. "Andy" Gump Award for Distinguished Service, the Flay and Glenda Anthony Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Service Technician of the Year Award.
ANDY GUMP DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
The 2024 award recipient was Jake Groen of PolyJohn Canada, Orillia, Ontario. Among the statements in his nomination are these words of praise from his colleagues: "Jake Groen epitomizes the criteria for the Andy Gump Award. He has shown a lifelong commitment to the industry's principles while building a reputation beyond reproach. Jake's personal integrity, drive for innovation, and community service make him the ideal recipient for this esteemed honor. With over 34 years advocating for and improving portable sanitation, Jake Groen deserves to be recognized with the industry's highest accolade."
"Jake is a staunch supporter of the PSAI. He has served on the Board as a Supplier Rep, he has been active on several Committees, and works hard to promote the 'I' by explaining the benefits of membership and sponsoring, through PolyJohn, annual memberships to various operators across Canada. He also volunteers with PSAI training and information at other Conferences such as OASIS and WWNS. "I have had the pleasure of attending many Conventions, WWNS, Open House, OASIS, Pumper/WWETT and PSAI all over North America. I have served on the PSAI Board with him for three years. I believe his arrival is amongst the most anticipated of any participant. His smile, kind words, gestures, participation, and Industry knowledge are amongst a few of his many fine qualities. He is never too busy to share a few words with you, volunteer time or wisdom, or catchup over a session break or lunch."

FLAY AND GLENDA ANTHONY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Keegan Campbell of Ameri-Can Engineering is the most recent award recipient. Here are portions of the nomination letter for Keegan:
During PSAI's 51st Annual Convention & Trade Show in Memphis, an ice storm hit the area on move-in day for exhibitors. The Convention set-up company was ready to surrender to the elements. The storage areas for the trucks, trailers, and other equipment were impassable and the ramp into the Convention Hall was covered in ice. With his years of volunteer experience in setting up Trade Shows, Keegan organized the vendors and took control of the situation.
“We let the entrance ramp thaw for a few hours and then tried to line up the vehicles to enter the Convention Center. It was still icy so I thought that salt or sand would help the situation,” Keegan said; he found the nearest Lowe’s and delegated Ian Kettering of Infinity Trailer to pick up sand and salt to treat the ice.
When Ian returned, Keegan organized a team to hand spread this mixture on the elevated ramp to enter the Center. He later secured a fertilizer spreader and used it to further distribute the sand and salt on the ice.
Vendors were frustrated that the Memphis load-in team was unprepared to handle the conditions. Keegan kept control of the situation and worked with the vendors to assist them, calmly explaining that trucks and trailers must be positioned before the "booth only" spaces could be put in place.
Once the Show opened, it was unnoticeable to attendees how much time and effort Keegan and his team had put forward to resolve the situation. To the attendees, there were trucks, trailers, booths, and exhibits as is always the case at a PSAI Convention and Trade Show. Without Keegan Campbell, there may have been a Trade Show Floor with a few booths inside and a back parking lot full of equipment and crates outside.
