ANDY GUMP DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

The 2023 award recipient was Bill Williams of Walex. Here are a few of the comments submitted in his nomination:

“In our dealing with Bill and Walex, there has never ever been any hint of anything other than a high level of integrity and fairness shown. Additionally, if you are asking about something that really is not a good item or method for the application Bill will tell you not to buy it rather than profit from you buying the wrong thing.”

“Walex and Bill have been very supportive with their time and with the time of their employees serving on PSAI committees, working on the PSAI Board of Directors, traveling to PSAI functions and displaying their products at PSAI Trade shows and Nuts & Bolts.”

“Bill has a way about him that invites people to get to know him and opens you up for honest and heartfelt conversations. You can see and feel the intensity and honest concern for our industry through his actions and his words. His endless energy and excitement for our industry is infectious and he will make sure you leave him with a smile.”

FLAY AND GLENDA ANTHONY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

Here are some of the comments submitted in the nomination for Jeff Wigley, the most recent award recipient:

“Jeff helps on events for many months leading up to arriving on site by organizing the efforts for each event with staff. He works with the SWAT Committee as well, to help reinvent the Convention & Trade Show. He has also gone to Minneapolis to work at the PSAI offices and he and his wife work at each event to make things run smoothly.”

“Jeff has been instrumental in helping us turn the Association into what it is today. Jeff is always extremely welcoming and informative to attendees at PSAI events and does his best to share the PSAI ‘gospel’ wherever he goes. I have never seen him frustrated or angry.

“As an active board member and incoming president, I have come to lean on Jeff for his support and guidance. I know I am not alone here. Jeff is retired and could easily spend his free time doing other things, yet he is still so dedicated to our industry. I am sincerely grateful to Jeff and his love for what we do.”

PSAI SERVICE TECH OF THE YEAR

The 2023 award recipient was Darren Fout of Porta Serve in High Springs, Florida. Here are some of the comments submitted in the nomination for Darren:

“Darren knows his long-term customers and as their needs change, especially on the farms, he adjusts the service needed and lets the office know. Customers have come to depend on Darren just ‘knowing’ and are not surprised to see additional services charged or units arrive before the harvest begins because ‘Darren knows.’ We set routes based on Darren’s direction, but when he is thrown curves, adjusts everyone’s needs with clarity and efficiency.”

“Darren has adopted and used technology as the industry has changed—cell phones, texting, faxing completed route sheets, learning to scan them instead and now using software on a smart phone. Darren can also problem solve and trouble shoot on his own. Darren can fix any of the systems on his truck, takes price in how the truck is organized and set up, and makes sure his units are fixed and in working order.”
